Yesterday, I installed laminate flooring in the soon-to-be workout room. I used Distressed Brown Hickory Laminate made by Home Decorators Collection. This is my favorite Laminate product I have ever installed. It is easy to work with and seems to be incredibly durable. I chose to use Pergo GOLD Premium 3mm Flooring Underlayment since it is both padding and has a vapor barrier. I highly recommend both of these products for any floor installation project.

The Underlayment is really nice to work with compared to the type that comes in a roll because from the get go it lays flat. It also has a grid pattern that helps for keeping straight cuts as well as measuring for accuracy.

Typically with any Laminate floor there is a tone of manipulation involved with the installation to get the pieces to fit together. This was not the case with this product. This is the first Laminate product that was a breeze to install with one person. You can also install from either direction which helps incase you mess up a piece in the future.
Tools Suggested:
12″ Sliding Miter Saw – this makes all the simple cuts so incredibly easy
Wood and Laminate Flooring Install Kit – this helps keep the gap around the edges of the room as well as has a tool to help knock pieces into place if needed.
A jig saw – for any custom cuts around corners or vents
7.5-Amp Corded 4.5 in. Ultra-Saw Tool Kit – I recently purchased this tool and have ended up using it for every project since. It is not only an awesome little saw it also doubles as a door trim cutter. I used this so I could just slide the flooring right under the door trim instead of making a custom cut to match the trim.
